Official Launch: Rolls-Royce Dawn
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars unveiled its latest addition to the luxury limousine fleet – the Dawn, last week at the prestigious and affluent Sentosa Cove. The first ever debut of the drophead coupe in Southeast Asia, the Dawn establishes a new benchmark for open top luxury cruising.
Featuring a 2+2 seating configuration, the Dawn appears as stylish and muscular as much as its brothers in the family line. Rolls-Royce retains its bold sweeping shoulder line from the rear to the front of the coupe, merging in a “wake channel” on the bonnet leading to the Spirit of Ecstasy.
Compared to the Wraith, the Dawn stands 53 mm longer at its lower front bumper, while at the same time, its grille sitting 45 mm inwards – all these engineered to enable the best air intake to keep the car as stable as it can get on the roads.
Over at its top, the Dawn features a silent lowering of the soft top should you wish to cruise with the wind in your hair, all in a mere 20-odd seconds. But roof down, the Dawn looks more stylish and sexy than ever before, clearly not your any other luxury coupe on the roads (and that does include even perhaps a Continental).
Stepping inside, Rolls-Royce’s signature coach doors adds on to the uniqueness of the Dawn. Its seats, bucket-typed, are designed to provide maximum comfort with any form of driving. Incorporated amongst its interior finishings are the abundance of wood and leather wrappings.
While the test car wasn’t available for drives, the Dawn houses an impressive twin-turbo 6.6-litre V12 engine under its hood. Putting out 563 bhp and a whopping 780 Nm of torque, one can categorize the Dawn’s drive as nothing short of exceptional.
And although prices haven’t been officially announced, one can expect the Dawn to sit around the S$1.5 million price tag. This, of course, is subject to changes depending on what additional features you would wish to enjoy in your new drophead lifestyle coupe. Our team also understands that this year’s fleet of Dawn for Singapore has been fully booked.
The Rolls-Royce Motor Cars’ showroom is located at 29, Leng Kee Road, with viewing by appointment only.
