Official launch: Mercedes-Benz A-Class
Compact hatch owners and potential buyers would be pleased with the addition of yet another new luxury hatch in town. Mercedes-Benz Singapore rolled out the new-generation A-Class last week, promising improvements over its predecessor launched back in 2012.
On first sight, the new A-Class looks a tad similar like its older version. But a closer look will sieve out intricate details such as a new arrow-shaped front bumper (strongly influenced by the 2011 Concept A-Class), a new diamond grille, as well as LED-performance headlights.
Inside, the new A-Class now features newer colours, materials, and trims for the interior. Customers can now choose new trimmings such as the new sahara beige / black leather in the Exclusive package, or seats with red / green highlights in the Style line.
For the more adrenaline-seeking drivers, a special “Motorsport Edition” model will see the A-Class’ bumper trims painted in petrol green, complimented with the same colour rim flanges of the AMG-shoes it wears. Inside, you enjoy petrol green trims on the surroundings of the air-conditioning vents, as well as leather / DINAMICA microfibre wrapping with petrol green stitches on the seats.
The new A-Class comes in a wider range for selection, now featuring a diesel model (A220d), and four petrol variants.

A 45 AMG 4MATIC
Boasting an update from its predecessor, the new A 45 AMG 4MATIC will feature a maximum output of 381 horses and a peak torque of 475 Nm, the world’s most powerful compact sports hatch. It completes its century sprint in just 4.2 seconds, 0.4 seconds lesser than the old A 45.
Diesel nomenclature: CDI to d
With the launch of this new-generation A-Class, Mercedes-Benz has introduced a new nomenclature for drive variants in this model series, replacing the CDI badge with a simple ‘d’, representing its diesel configuration.
The new Mercedes-Benz A-Class is available for booking at Mercedes-Benz Singapore. Pricing starts from S$135,888 (for the A 180 Style package).
